Go It Alone, by Bruce Judson (ISBN: 0060731133)

Overall a decent book, but with a very simple purpose that could be better explained in a cliff notes version. Good thing I am here for you. A couple key points I took from this book:

1. Focus on one thing and do it really well.
Like Econ 101 and guns/butter, people should specialize in a particular area in order to maximize their personal return. Finding out what your real area of strength is sometimes difficult. My business helps other businesses with that - usually through interviews with your customers. After all, they know best.

2. Farm out, or outsource, everything outside of #1.
Examples included Dell, Mylogo.com, Therasense(?), and his own personal business experience. If you sell keychains on the internet, focus on keychains - not learning PHP so you can do fancy stuff on your website. You are wasting time by not getting a pro to help you out.

3. Do it part-time until you can make money.
Umm. Yeah. Don't quit your day job. There are millions of part-time businesses around the world, many of them are led by people with daytime jobs who are looking for something to supplement their income or help others.

YOUR BEST LIFE NOW, by Joel Osteen

I can't decide whether or not to take this guy seriously. OK, I've decided not to.

This guy is a devout Christian, a Protestant; he tells a different story.

He obvisouly doesn't like what Joel is doing.
